breathtaking photos
This book reminds all of us who live in the Finger Lks, how beautiful this area is, and how lucky we are to live here. GREAT JOB KRIS!

Finger Lakes Panoramas
I live in the Finger Lakes area (Elmira) and I have either driven, hiked, or bicycled around all the lakes and sailed across several. This is a wonderful piece of work and all scenes are easily recognized. A great compilation.

Beautifully-done portrayal of the Finger Lakes area.
As a previous resident of the Finger Lakes area, I can personally vouch for the beauty of the area. Mr. Reynolds has captured it as well as any human being can capture the glory of nature's beauty. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a taste for looking at beautiful places, beautifully photographed. Mr. Reynolds has presented an excellent talent with this beautiful book. I look forward to his next effort.

Lake Michigan Magic
I really liked this book. I have been visiting the Indiana-Michigan shoreline on and off again since the 1950's. I never understood the area as a whole until I read this book. It is truly a first rate resource -whether you are planning a weekend excursion or the whole summer along this part of Lake Michigan. I especially liked the spiral binding and the easy to read maps. The colors are magnificent. It is just the right size to keep in your glove compartment. I ordered three copies and plan to pass them on to my friends.

Amazing publicaton:
Obviously a labor of love. A must have addition to the collection for the serious lover of "the dunes". Finely researched from an author who has been there, soon to become the definitive study of the area. Well written, glorious photgraphs, many by the author herself. It serves the first time visitor well, yet also enlightens the veteran repeat visitor or resident. A great gift idea.....

Locations, contact information, & extensive descriptions
The Glaciers' Treasure Trove: A Field Guide To The Lake Michigan Riviera by Jacqueline Widmar Stewart is a full-color travel guide to the sights, lakes, vineyards, state parks and other attractions of the area. Locations, contact information, extensive descriptions and photographs on every page characterize and enhanced this exceptionally useful, on-the-go, "pocket portable" traveling companion. A spiral binding and sturdy allows this handy reference to weather extensive use while one enjoying the best a Lake Michigan vacation has to offer.

Grumman F-14 Tomcat: Shipborne Superfighter

THE Authority on the F-14 Tomcat
Jon Lake who is one of the most authoritative avaition researchers today has put together the most complete book on the F-14. This has all the information needed, from the preliminary designs, to the units served, to its combat record, the information is presented accurately and concisely. I have been a Tomcat fan for many years and I have had the opportunity to read quite a few books on the F-14, but this is by far the best book I have read. A must for any aviation collection. Another book to complement this book would be Tomcat Alley by David F. Brown, which has over 700 images and is purely a pictorial guide of all the F-14 aircraft built.

Excellent
After reading many books on military hardware, this book is easy to read and informative. A must have for any F-14 fan. I learned a great deal about an aircraft that I considered myself as knowledgeable. A must buy.

Collection of World Air Power Journal Materials plus new Inf
This book is published by the same published who published World Air Power and Wings of Fame journals. Part of the pages of this book came from the articles printed on World Air Power before.

World Air Power journal is a high quality military journal with excellent photos. This book has all the excellent quality from the journal plus new materials including the 1991 gulf war.

F-14 is a legend not only to Navy, but to all of the fighters current in service. There are some books in this field, but with latest information, this is the book to read.

Guide to Marine Life of the Caribbean, Bahamas and Florida
A well written, informative, easy to understand book. Not only do you receive a reference guide, you get biology lessons, photo tips, and great overviews of reef systems. This book is perfect for scuba divers!

best source I've seen for teaching diving ecology
I'm a scuba instructor, and have spent years looking for the perfect book to use in fish identification and underwater naturalist courses. When I found this book, I stopped looking! It is the perfect combination, and makes everything understandable to the beginner, yet still informative to us old pros! The photo tips also come in very handy in teaching photography and videography... no Caribbean diver can afford not to have this book... I mean it!

A MUST HAVE FOR ANY DIVER/SNORKELER
This is my latest addition to my "diving book collection". I am a recent diving convert (the very best sport ever), and find myself reading this book constantly (more looking at the pics I suppose, which are gorgeous!). If you are looking for a fantastic book to invest in...LOOK NO FURTHER...BUY IT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

MiG- 29 Soviet Superfighter (Osprey publishing)
I am a military aviation enthusiast and take keen interest in Russian fighters, especially MiG-29. MiG-29 caught my fancy ever since these a/c were inducted into Indian Air Force. Incidentally one of my friend is widely acknowledged to be one of the pioneers of MiG- 29s in India. He specialises in aerobatice. I have read janes how to fly and fight in F-117 Staelth fighter. I have seen a documentary on this a/c on Discovery channel. This is really a great a/c. I remember how it performed in Gulf war and was appropriately named BAGHDAD EXPRESS. One book which I long to possess is Janes how to fly and fight in Mikoyan MiG-29 Fulcrum. But unfortunately this book is not available in India. Kindly suggest how to procure this book. I shall deem it a great favour. Kindly pass on this message to Mr. JON LAKE (author) if possible and please reply to me on my e- mail address:- rajnish_fin_2001@yahoo.com. My postal address is 3120 sector B- 4 Vasant Kunj, New Delhi- 110070 (India).

Jane's(At the Controls) overall best
In all stealth fighter book, from my opinion, I think this is the best overall I have read. The book has got great pictures where I seldom fine anywhere else, if you people like stealth fighter pictures, this is the book for you. Not only the amazing pictures that make me grade it 5 stars, but the amazing story told was also the point. The real story about working on the stealth fighter that people seldon get to see was told what will the pilots must & mustn't do before boarding the plane & after landing the plane. This book is worth buying because it is a valuable aset to the fans of the stealth fighter.

Jane's At The Controls F-117 Stalth
If you love the stealth fighter, then this is the book for you! Awsome pictures, stunning explanations from the devlopment to the deployment in Desert Storm, this is the ultamite book on the F-117! It even has interviews from the pilots who fly the aircraft, its payload, even a 4-page fold-out picture and cross-section of the Stealth! There isn't a book out there better than this!

Lighthouses of Lake Michigan: Past and Present

Lighthouses of Lake Michigan
This book is fantastic. It gives you great information about the history of each of the lighthouses around Lake Michigan and reasons why some may have changed over the years. The pictures are great! It is also one of the few books that I have come across that is so complete. I also like how he included the status of each light and how to access it. I hope the author does another book like this about Lake Superior.

Loved IT!
I thought the author did a wonderful job on this book. I hope he someday does the rest of the great lakes of Michigan the same way. It has been a pleasure to read. My step daughter loves looking at the pictures. Plus it makes a great gift.

Best Lake Michigan Lighthouse Book Ever, Period.
There has never been a more complete, well written, accurate
and better illustrated book on Lake Michigan lighthouses.

Pictures of existing and long-gone lighthouses are beautiful,
and frankly my wife and I can't put it down.

This is a must have.

Fishing Yellowstone National Park, 2nd : An angler's complete guide to more than 100 streams, rivers, and lakes
Published in Paperback by Falcon Publishing Company (May, 2003)
Author: Richard Parks
Average review score:

A Map to the Cutthroats Homes
Recently, I managed to get the hay baled, unload several cow-calf pairs at the sale barn, and endure a screaming diatribe from one of my neighbors who was desiring to cut a road across the corner of my property for ill-defined reasons involving an elk hunting camp. When I demurred, spittle flew out of his mouth and he became quite agitated. For a moment, I thought I might have to get the Mossberg. In the end, he promised to make things so hot for me with our County Board that I would think the devil himself was after me. Against this backdrop, I decided it was a sovereign time to go fishing in Yellowstone.

I have mixed opinions about the worth and accuracy of some Falcon Guides, but not this one. Armed with this guide, I wended my way through the bunkers of industrial tourism that blight our otherwise wondrous first national park, dodging the hatch of RVs and uncurious flabbos that choke the roads in high season. I settled first on a stretch of the Lewis River, which Merriwether Lewis never actually saw. It fished about the way the author said it would, and his descriptions were accurate and clear.

Of course, anyone can write a roadside fishing guide but what about the pristine streams and creeks accessible only by foot or horse? I shouldered my pack and hiked twenty miles into the backcountry in search of some of the original strain of cutthroat. Again, his descriptions of Wolverine Creek and the upper Snake were clear and easy to follow. I used various atttractor patterns recommended by the author and some that weren't. Each produced an equal and abundant share of fish. I finished my week with a couple of nights on Pebble Creek in the NE corner of the park, fishing the undercut banks and big pools in the manner the author suggests. The cutthroat were plentiful, surprisingly sizeable, and not too selective. As a bonus, I saw a wolf pack cruising across the valley as I made my way down the stream bank.

The short sections on ethics are a pleasure to read. Use barbless hooks at all times and don't poach another angler's water if he's clearly fishing a stretch you covet. Get out of bed earlier next time. The author occasionally gives short shrift to some of the more difficult trails in the Park, but if you want to get away from your fellow sportsmen and enjoy Yellowstone the way Colter did, take such damnings with a grain of salt. Overall, his impressions of the park's waters and their fishability mirror my own over the last 15 years or so. Also, he is not kidding when he estimates the number of fisherman who crowd popular sections of river, such as Slough Creek and the Yellowstone near Hayden Valley. Leave these waters in high season for the Zebco crowd and plan on fishing them in the off-season.

Best guide for where & when to fish Yellowstone
The best book on access points and times to go inside and outside the park. It provides many useful hints on further exploring you might do as well. It is a perfect complement to Craig Matthews' Yellowstone Fly Fishing Guide, which focuses more on hatches and flies rather than specific access to each stream or river.

Very Informative Book on Fishing in Yellowstone!
I had purchased this book and one other for my trip to Yellowstone. This was by far the best book, had all regulations and great information on where to fish in the area. I studied this book in anticipation of my trip, had always wanted to go to Yellowstone and fish. With the use of this book and its recommendations, I had the best day of fishing in my life, caught 40 trout in one day. All I can say is get the book read it and follow the recommendations and guide you wont be sorry. Jeff

Gospel Birds and Other Stories of Lake Wobegon
Published in Audio Cassette by HighBridge Company (July, 1991)
Author: Garrison Keillor
Average review score:

The height of the monologue
This is not only a fine collection of monologues from what was arguably the period during which Keillor most popular, it also has gorgeous guitar links provided by Chet Atkins. Just a few seconds of wonderful trademark arpeggios by a guitar genius (and good friend of Keillor's) in between each monologue. I'd listen to an entire CD of just music like that. This is a fine piece of work.

Garrison's Best-Ever recording!
I have virtually all of Keillor's Lake Woebegon works, and this is his finest! "On Meeting Donny Hart" is perhaps the finest tragi-comedy of them all! You'll bust a gut listening to Mazumbo, Gospel Birds, Pastor Ingquist's Trip to Orlando, Mammoth Concert, and Babe Ruth Visits Lake Woebegon-- the whole set is superb. I can't say enough good about this excellent product.

The Best of Garrison Keillor
This is one of 2 collections of monologues (the other being "Fall") that (to me) comprise the absolute best of Garrison Keillor's recorded Lake Wobegon stories. Some of the later collections have a more uneven feel, but "Gospel Birds" and "Fall" don't have a weak moment on them. The stories range from hilarious to touching to heartbreaking, and many times are all three at once. You'll laugh at these whacko Minnesota characters, but you'll also see yourself in them, and feel along with them as well. This is time well spent.

Great Lakes Stories: Ashore After Fifty Years
Published in Paperback by Border Pub Co (October, 1996)
Author: Ray I. McGrath
Average review score:

The book brought back many memories of my late Father.
My Father sailed the Great Lakes with Captain McGrath. Their careers paralleled for many years. Captain McGrath's account of his experiences was very informative and enlightening.

"Experience the Majesty of the Great Lakes Through This Book
I cannot be objective when it comes to the majesty and danger seen through the eyes of this man, Captain Ray McGrath. I live on the Great Lakes and cannot begin to have experienced, both good and bad, what these often mysterious lakes hold for those who are dependent on their "goodwill" for a living.
Captain McGrath not only signed some copies of his book, but also added illustrations that are not only charming, but understandable to the person of average intelligence (such as myself)more so than any actual "schematic" of a ship, which would have little meaning to those of us not engaged in the shipping/sailing life.
I recommend this book to those who have been on the lakes, those who are entertaining a career on the lakes and anyone, like me, who loved the "vicarious" life I led while turning each page.

A Real Page Turner
My father has worked on the Great Lakes for years, but as a Midwest Gal, my knowledge of the area and its history is limited. My dad handed me a copy of Captain McGrath's book over the Christmas holiday, and I had a difficult time putting it down. The stories are full of humor, irony, and much history. It's an enjoyable read for anyone, even if you aren't associated with the Lakes.

Houseboating on Lake Powell
Published in Paperback by Many Feathers (June, 1988)
Author: Hirsch
Average review score:

Great Intro to Lake Powell!
Hirsch does a great job of whetting my appetite to get to Lake Powell. The explanation of the whole process of renting and operating a house-boat is just what I was looking for! I wish he had included a little more detail about communications with marine radio and cell phones, and he could have just gone into more detail in every chapter. I appreciate the expense he went to in the colored pictures. Overall very satisfied! I would recommend it as a resource to anyone headed to Lake Powell!

AWESOME
This book tells you everything to bring and everything not to. I haven't even gone on the trip yet, but all my friends have already bought their copy and read it cover to cover. Bob, if you read this, thank you for being so clever yet informative. The pictures in this book and breathtaking!
